Our editing and publishing process, as with all literary magazines, is a long and delicate undertaking. None of this would be possible without our team.

Letter from Editor-in-Chief

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the second issue of The Trailblazer Literary Magazine. It has been two months since the founding of our publication. Within this short span of time, we have received more than 200 submissions from high school students worldwide. What awed me, beyond the passion of each aspiring writer, was the creativity and innovative take showcased in their work, whether it is a dystopian short story set in the near future, a free verse poem on Asian heritage, or a mystery narrative ending with a gruesome murder.

Our editing and publishing process, as with all literary magazines, is a long and delicate undertaking. None of this would be possible without our team and community of like-minded and incredibly talented young editors, poets, novelists, essayists, and short story writers. (We grew into a 50-person team on 1/31, the last day of January!) I would like to thank every one of you for contributing to our team, especially Kaelin David—the Co-Editor-in-Chief.

Lastly, as Isabel Allende said, we should “write what should not be forgotten.” There are two ways to interpret this quote: to write what would always be remembered by your readers, and to write about a memory that should never be lost. As a publication dedicated to celebrating all cultures, traditions, and heritage worldwide, we truly believe in both.

Sincerely,

Renee Chen
