November Book Recommendations
By Stuti Jain
As November comes to a close, here’s our weekly reading list!
1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
A passionate, beautifully written (and incredibly quotable) story of all consuming love, Wuthering
Heights is a beautiful gothic novel for anyone who enjoys reading older works.
2. Animal Farm by George Orwell
An absurdly nostalgic, cynical, and satirical drama about a group of animals who run a political
party, Animal Farm is a must read for those who enjoy simple books with profound depth.
3. Nightfall by Issac Asimov
A short science fiction tale filled with metaphor and allusion, Nightfall is a brilliant, plot-driven yet
meaningful piece about a society that lives in total darkness, and their reaction when they come
across light.
4. The Flowers of Evil by Charles Baudelaire
A complex and emotionally rich work rife with intensity, pain, and longing, The Flowers of Evil is
an incredible Symbolist work for anybody who enjoys older poetry and is interested in European
classics!
5. The Dream of a Ridiculous Man by Fyodor Dostovensky
Quite possibly the best short story I’ve ever read, The Dream of a Ridiculous Man is (like all of
Dostovensky’s work), brimming with emotion, is descriptive yet precise with the language, and is
absolutely heart-breaking when you’re done.
